Abstract: (1733 Views)
In this paper we have investigated the micromachining of Yb:YAG crystal using passively Q-Switched Nd:YAG microlaser with 450ps pulse width and 250µj energy per pulse. The laser beam after passing appropriate optics was focused on the crystal surface that was translated in the focal point and fabricated the microchannel structure by the plasma ablation. Depend on laser beam roundtrip the mirochannels depth were different. We also report the Yb:YAG crystal cutting by scribe and break method. In this way first a microchannel was fabricated (scribing line) and then CO2 laser beam was used to irradiate on it to separate the crystal with smooth cut edges and without cracks.
