Abstract: (921 Views)
Abstract- Recently, organic solar cells have attracted high attention due to their high power conversion efficiency, low cost and manufacturing technology in a variety of approaches. In this paper, a bulk heterojunction organic solar cell with P3HT: PCBM active layer is investigated at different thicknesses, which is simulated using Scaps simulation software. We have studied the effects of altering the thickness on characteristic performance parameters of the solar cell, including: short-circuit current, open voltage, filling factor and power conversion efficiency. The results show that by increasing the thickness from a certain value onwards, due to the losses caused by recombination inside the layers as well as the related surfaces, the efficiency does not increase to the desired extent.
Keywords: organic solar cell, recombination processes, Scaps simulation, power conversion efficiency.
