Abstract: (907 Views)
One of the important issues in antenna design is increasing the antenna bandwidth. This paper presents a microstrip patch antenna that uses a photonic crystal structure in its design. In the designed antenna, photonic crystals are embedded inside the ground's surface. The proposed structure consists of three rows of cross-shaped photonic crystals. The use of this structure prevents the propagation of surface waves and improves the characteristics of this antenna compared to a conventional antenna, so that the bandwidth of the photonic crystal antenna has increased by 24.2% compared to a conventional antenna. In addition, return loss and mutual coupling have been improved in the above antenna.
