Abstract: (976 Views)
A biosensor is an analytical device, used for the detection of a sample using in the binding mechanism. In this paper, A two dimensional photonic crystal waveguide based biosensor is designed with a ring resonator and, a bus waveguide and a drop waveguide. The sensing mechanism is such that when the refractive index of analytes changes, the resonant wavelength shift occurs. when the refractive index increases, the transmission spectrum moves about 0.002um to higher wavelengths. This mechanism can be used to distinguish between normal and cancer cell lines. The average values of sensitivity and quality factor of 35.8543 and 608243.32 are obtained for the designed structure respectively. Due to high sensitivity, this biosensor can be useful for detection of cancer cells.
