Abstract: (1052 Views)
A thin film optical filter is fabricated using chiral nematic liquid crystals (CLCs). The filter can reflect the half of incident unpolarized light in the region of 650 to 720 nm without any significant scattering. The photonic bandgap varies by varying the concentration of chiral dopant. The optical filter has chemical stability for protic solvents and thermal stability to 110 °C. Thickness of the film is 6.75 µm and can be delaminated from the substrates. The stand free film can be also used in other optical devices such as lasers, displays, and optical shutters.
